I have used the official C++ connector (Version 1.1.7) for MySQL recently, but found some weird memory leak, though I was totally following the official documents. The connector could be found

How does the memory leak look like?
I used Valgrind to detect memory leak of my program, and found the memory used by the MySQL thread was not released somehow:

Why does it happen?
After some investigation, I found the post in the Reference. It seems that the official document did not tell users to do anything for the MySQL_Driver pointer (e.g.,
this sample code), but actually it is necessary in order to release the memory allocated for the thread used by the MySQL connector.
